In conjunction with the JHHS Athletic Department, the Jackson Parish Journal (JPJ) is sponsoring and will present the inaugural “First Family” Award to a deserving family of former Tigers at halftime of the JHHS vs Logansport game on Friday, September 24th. This program, which is planned to be continued at each JHHS home game from here on out, is designed to connect the fans of today with the greats in Tiger football lore of yesteryear.
Receiving the initial award will be Lowell, Rodney and Leslie Mize who played at Jonesboro-Hodge from 1963-1968. More information on each will be featured in the Wednesday edition of the JPJ. Additional “first family” award winners scheduled to be honored at future JHHS home games this season are members of the Anderson and Stringer family.
As this is a new program, many more families who are steeped in either Jonesboro-Hodge or Jackson High legacy are being contacted for future designation and nominations are asked to be sent in. To nominate a possible “first family” recipient you are asked to contact the Jackson Parish Journal at: jpjjacksonla@gmail.com
Award winners will receive a plaque that recognizes them as being a JHHS “first family”along with the receiving of the “100 year history of JHHS football” book, where the former players can recollect their “glory years” through detailed accounts of their playing days.
