You could say that a message was sent. With the 24-0 blanking the 2021 edition of the Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School Tigers gave notice to Winnfield this past Thursday evening that they plan on having the upper hand in the rivalry between the two for years to come.
It doesn’t matter if you are in Junior High or High School. Beating Winnfield is always a top priority. It especially is special when you are playing them for the first time in your life after hearing from your parents, uncles, cousins and family friends all about the games they played against the biggest rival Jonesboro-Hodge has.
Leading the charge was Marquis Baker who rushed for over 80 yards and Dakota Knox who had two rushing TD’s. Knox also connected with Jason Blackburn for a score as well. Not to be overshadowed was the fine play by the defensive unit that held Winnfield scoreless.
Tigers travel to Haynesville on Tuesday!
It is a contest that JH Middle School head coach has had circled since the season opening scrimmage that saw Haynesville have the upper hand. That was then. This is now. JH Middle has since gotten on a roll by shutting out Lincoln Prep in a controlled scrimmage and blanking Winnfield this past Thursday. Game time is set for 5:30pm.
