Chatham Town Council agrees to sell Chatham Medical Clinic to Jackson Parish Hospital

At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting held on September 14th, Chatham Town Council members Toni Malone, Marvin Davis, Sue Proffer and Mike Wilson agreed to accept the bid by the Jackson Parish Hospital (JPH) to buy the Chatham Medical Clinic. In subsequent action, Ordinance 2021-08 was enacted that would authorize Chatham Mayor Gregory Harris was authorized to execute a cash sale deed with the JPH in the amount of $190,000.00. LaVerne Mixon was absent. 

A public hearing was also set for October 12th at 530pm at the Chatham Town Hall where discussion of the sale can be made by town constituents. Also at the same hearing, Ordinance 2021-07 which authorizes Mayor Harris to advertise for bids to sell surplus property located at 6537 Hwy 34 to the highest responsible bidder, will be discussed. This followed approval to adopt Resolution 2021-016 that declared the location as surplus property and after a motion was agreed upon that would set the minimum acceptable price for property at $15,000.00. A final item will be on the agenda at the Public Hearing in Octover regarding the rezoning of 6551 Hwy 34 from residential to business

 In additional action it was agreed to add the generators for the water plant to the agenda and to look at contracting with consultant to complete budget and application for the grant for generators.
