It is getting that time again where the town of Jonesboro begins preperation for the Christmas Wonderland in the Pines Festival. In regard to the iconic yearly event that brings in visitors from all over Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce Director Wilda Smith has issued the following statement and request to Jackson Parish residents.
If you take a stroll through downtown Jonesboro, you will notice that the lights are being strung for the Christmas Wonderland in the Pines Festival to be held November 27th. This will be a day of excitement for the entire community and will bring many people from out of town.
A contract has been signed to have a fantastic firework display immediately following the parade at 4:30 PM.
Of course, Santa will be at his house Parade Day (immediately following the parade). He will visit with the boys and girls each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5 to 9PM through December 19th. Carriage rides will be available nightly weather permitting.
The biggest source of income for the Chamber is from our annual banquet, Sunshine Festival (which we haven’t had in two years), parade entries (which we didn’t have in 2020. We are requesting donations for the Christmas festival. Hopefully, those who have supported the banquet each year will support the Christmas festival this year
The expense of the Christmas Festival each year is between $10,000 and $14,000. The Chamber can only do this and keep everything free so long as we have donations from you.
.We are planning and hopefully that this will be one of the biggest Christmas festivals in the history of Jonesboro.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
