JHHS sweeps top honors of 1-2A Girls All District Team

To the victors go the spoils! After waltzing their way to six victories without a loss in 1-2A play to claim the district championship, the Jonesboro-Hodge Lady Tigers swept the top post-season awards of Most Valuable Player and Coach of the Year. All five starters received some sort of recognition as well.

After averaging 22.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.5 steals and 3.0 assists, senior guard, Xabrianna Jackson, closes out her stellar career by winning her third consecutive Most Valuable Player award in district 1-2A competition.

Kris Cash was named Coach of the Year after orchestrating one of the most incredible turnaround jobs witnessed in the LHSAA. Cash took over a team that has struggled to a 2-10 record before the calendar turned to 2022. After he grabbed the reins, the Lady Tigers compiled a record of 14-4, that included a perfect 6-0 mark in district 1-2A play and one of the losses being a forfeit due to matters beyond his control.

Ke’Asiah Andrews (5.6ppg, 7.0 rpg) was also named to the First Team, with the Hoggro sisters, A’Jorianna (2.9ppg, 2.9rpg, 1.2apg) and Zymea (3.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.5 apg), earning second team honors. Tyya Davis (3.5ppg, 5.4 rpg) and LeRonda McGuire (1.8ppg, 2.3 rpg) received Honorable Mention designation.
