Have you driven down Jimmie Davis Boulevard, aka Main Street, in Jonesboro recently? If you have, you surely have noticed the hanging baskets in the middle ground at each corner as they have added a beautiful addition to the ambiance of the street. If you have not, you need to take a look.
The hanging baskets are part of the ongoing Beautification of Main Street project that is sponsored by the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce (JPCC) in conjunction with the Town of Jonesboro. Already, flowers have been planted in urns along the sidewalks, the fountain is working again and the irrigation system along the middle ground is back in operation.
“Warren and the town employees have worked on the irrigation system that we used to have long ago for watering the baskets. They are making every effort to keep them alive and keep the boulevard beautiful,” said JPCC Director Wilda Smith, who made an additional request. “If you see a member of the town employees thank them for what they’re trying to do in improving and bringing our Boulevard back as it once was.”
Smith and the JPCC also gives recognition to those who have donated baskets, flowers and assisted with their placement and planting.
“This could not happen if it were not for those who have donated their time and or money to help make Main Street beautiful once again,” said Smith.
