Thurston Allen, President of Jonesboro State Bank speaks to J-HMS 8th graders

As a young person begins their teenage years it is imperative to learn the importance of saving, wants vs. needs, the effects of spending, and how to go about opening a checking/savings account. The days of getting a job, buying a car, or going off to college are not too far away. Thanks to Thurston Allen, President of Jonesboro State Bank, on Monday, May 9th, the 8th graders at Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School (J-HMS) received valuable instruction in these areas and more.

“I would like to thank Mr. Thurston Allen for speaking to our 8th Graders,” said J-HMS Principal Danielle Copeland. “Many of our students have talents such as braiding hair, making fruit trays, beading, mowing lawns, etc. I wanted to be sure that they understood the power of Financial Literacy as well.”
