QHS softball/golf teams to host 4th annual summer golf tourney

Two of the most heralded athletic programs in Jackson Parish from the past school year are combining their efforts to host the 4th annual Summer Golf Tournament to be played at the Jackson Parish Golf Course on June 25th.

The Quitman High School Golf team turned in the best results of any school athletic team this past spring when it finished as state runner-up while the Lady Wolverines won district 2B and made a second round, appearance in the state playoffs. Both incurred tremendous expenses over the year and the tournament goes a long way in helping defray costs.

The tournament will be played with two-man teams playing the front nine in a Shamble format and the second nine as a scramble. A Shamble format is when all players on the team tee off and then hit their next shot from the best tee shot position. From there each player plays his or hers own ball. In a scramble format all players hit from the tee box and then all hit again from the location of the best shot This is repeated until the ball is made in the cup. Cost per team is $150.00. To sign up contact the Jackson Parish Golf Course at 318-318-7247 of Quitman coach Justin Dodson at 318-237-6579.
