Excessive heat warning issued for remainder of the week

The dog days of summer are upon us. With temperatures soaring into the mid 90’s and the heat index staying in the 103-106 degrees Fahrenheit range most of North Louisiana, including Jackson Parish has been placed under an Excessive Heat Warning and Advisory.

According to National Weather Service Meteoroligist Lisa May the forecast calls for sunny, hot and dry conditions for the remainder of the week brining with it extreme temperatures and high humidity.

“It is advisable that people limit their outdoor activities as much as possible at the present time,” said Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Brad Roller. “It is important they you stay hydrated as well.”

Residents are also encouraged to stay in communication with their neighbors, especially the ones who are elderly or homebound and those who don’t have air conditioning in their homes.
