With Quitman products Luke Morgan, Ty Simonelli and Blake Carter leading the way, Empire Black, won the NSU Showcase Trounament this past weekend in Natchitoches. Based out of Shreveport the elite travel ball group lost their first game of the year to Extreme 18U but battled back to gain revenge in the finals.
In the single elimination stage of the tourney Empire Black made short work of Empire Purple 9-1 then topped Extreme 18U in the championship game by a 5-3 score. Extreme 18U, who Weston High grad, Kaden Shirley, plays for but wasn’t with the team this weekend reached the finals by beating LTG Stars 18U 7-2 in the opening round.
