Madison Taylor represents Quitman High at National Beta Competition

Most local residents spent the 4th of July holiday weekend doing the normal things that people do during this time like frolicking at the lake, grilling in the backyard with family and friends or shooting fireworks.

Madison Taylor has done all of the above before as well, but not on this holiday weekend. This one was special, very special. So special in fact that she will remember it forever and well she should. After all it isn’t every day that through hard work, dedication and creative thinking that you have earned the right to be thought of as one of the best in the nation.

From July 1st – 4th, Taylor was in Nashville, TN where her Visual Arts entry was on display and in competition with others in her class at the Senior National Beta Competition. What qualified Taylor for the national competition was her photograph of grass sprigs growing in rocks that won first place at the state competition back in February.

The National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. For more than 80 years, it has prepared today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. There are now more than 445,000 active members and more than 9,600 clubs nationally and internationally.
