Staying Alive! JP10U softball All-Stars split first two at state

Superb pitching stole the limelight in the first two games played by the Jackson Parish 10U All Star’s in the Little League Softball State Tournament in Broussard, LA on Friday and Saturday. The first display of mound mastery put the locals in the losers bracket. The second one kept them alive to play again on Sunday in a 2:00pm game that will be played on Field 6 of the Blue Pod at the St. Julien Sports Complex.

(Game 2) Jackson Parish 15 Avoyelles American 3:  Seven runs in the fourth innning and five more in the fifth broke open a one run ball game and lifted JP10U to the convincing victory. While the offensive outburst was welcome to see, the star of the game was Rachel Bandy who did not allow a hit over five innings and recorded 14 of the 15 outs Avoyelles made by strike out.

She didn’t have a bad day at the plate either, getting two hits including a triple, scored two runs and knocked in another. Amelia Staggs, also collected two hits with a triple, knocked three runs and scored a run and Kynleigh Leach got on twice, scored two and had two RBI. Bella Blewer walked three straight time and scored twice. Ella Simonelli also crossed home plate twice with London Burkes (RBI), Teegan Hall (2 RBI), Ava Canderday (RBI), Gracie Gray, Tessa Reeves and Charleigh Newton all chipping in with a run scored. Leach, Hall, Reeves, Blewer and Burkes also stole a base each.
