Have you ever taken the time to think of all the earth shattering events that have taken place over the last century? Imagine witnessing the two world wars, women sufferage, the Great Depression, prohabition of alcohol, the birth of television, automobile and jet airline travel, the nuclear age, computers, cell phones and the internet, among a countless number of other things that are taken for granted today.
Gertrude Lawrence doesn’t have to imagine any of that. The Jackson Parish native lived through it all! This past week the Forest Haven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Jonesboro presented “Maw”, as she is fondly called, with a birthday party in celebration of her turning 105 year old.
