It is a common occurrence anytime a new leader takes office that changes are made among personnel in the administration regime. The same will is true for new Jonesboro Mayor James “Spike” Harris, who revealed this week who he will recommend to the Town Council to fill certain positions or who has been appointed through his capacity.
Falling under his jurisdiction to do so, Mayor Harris has already brought in Wendy Davis to be the town’s financial officer where she will handle Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. Harris has also appointed Aaron Blaylock as acting Fire Chief for the Town of Jonesboro until a permanent replacement for Brandon Brown has been chosen. Brown was removed from the position but asked to stay on as Compliance Officer, which he refused.
Still unknown is Harris’s recommendation for Street Commissioner and Public Works Director but the following people will be presented to the Town Council for their approval at their regularly scheduled session that will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, January 10th.
J.L. Jones – Town Clerk
Kasey Belton – Tax Collector
Yumeaka Washington – City Court Magistrate
The Jonesboro Police Department also saw changes made when the calendar turned to 2023. Israel Smith, who was elected by town residents as Police Chief in the November elections, has appointed Warren Johnson as Assistant Chief.
…thank GOD for changes. Praying for the best for this administration, GOD BLESS.
