Chatham Town Council awards Water System Improvement contracts

The Chatham Town Council met for their first regular session of the year on Tuesday, January 10th with Mayor Gregory Harris and the following members present Paula Ackley, Toni Malone, Laverne Mixon, and Sue Proffer. Councilmember Mike Wilson was absent.

The session opened with the council accepting the minutes from the December meeting and approving paying all monthly bills. Resolution 2023-01 was then adopted changing the name on the savings account from Revenue Sharing to Village of Chatham Carbon Savings leading to a pair of contracts and change orders being approved.

Contract #1 entitled “Water Production System Improvements, Water Well; Water Sector Program Project” was awarded to Watson Well Drilling and Construction, LLC of Rayville, Louisiana for the bid amount of $474,000.00, subject to Water Sector Program approval. This was immediately followed by the adoption of a change order that reduced the construction contract amount to $450,000.00, also subject to Water Sector Program approval.

Contract #2 entitled “Water Production System Improvements, Booster Station and Related Work; Water Sector Program Project” was then awarded to Womack and Sons Construction Group, LLC of Harrisonburg, Louisiana for the bid amount of $1,895,088.00, subject to Water Sector Program approval. This too was followed by the adoption of a change order that reduced the construction contract amount to $1,609,231.00, again subject to Water Sector Program approval.

After the financial statements as presented were accepted the meeting was adjourned.
