
Ninth grader Nathan Harvey turned in a gold medal winning performance in the 110 meter hurdles highlighting Quitman High Schools showing at the 2023 Simsboro Tiger Relays Invitational track meet that was held on March 9th.
The youthful Wolverine thinclads had seven boys and girls make podium appearances, finishing in either first, second or third place. Finishing in second place as 8th grader Kaleigh King in the girls 300 hurdles and Sebastian Guin in the shot put. Coming in third was Emma Carter in the high jump, Geoffrey Maxwell in the 100 meters. Also finishing as bronze medalists were the boys and girls 4×200 meter relay teams consisting of Harvey, Maxwell, Jayden Harts and Jamall Johnson on the boys team and girls Zuwynesha Johnson, Emayshia Wiley, Maddie Giddens and Bethany Leach.
With 14 north Louisiana schools representing the entire gamut of classifications (5A – C) on hand, the Wolverines gained points in 16 events overall, with both the boys and girls teams scoring in 8 events apiece.

Cedar Creek Junior High Track Meet
Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School (JHMS) and the Junior High teams from Quitman and Weston High Schools were among 14 schools that participated in the Cedar Creek Jr. High Track Meet on March 7th. Twenty five area thinclads, broken down as 16 from QJH, 10 from JHMS and 9 from WJH, scored points by placing 1st thru 6th in the track and field events.
