Saline’s Maddox Williams wins High School Bass Classic, Weston team 18th

Maddox Williams of Saline High School and Eddie Hyatt from Lakeside combined to catch ten fish over two days that weighed a combined 38.96 lbs. to win first place at the High School Bass Classic (HSBC) that was fished on Caddo Lake in Shreveport. 

With catches of 19.96 lbs on Saturday, March 25th and 19.00 lobs on Sunday, March 26th the fabulous fishing partners have now won the HBSC title their second straight year. Joseph Irvin and Landon Pierce from Weston High came in 18th out of the 51 teams from Louisiana and Texas that competed.

“These guys define teamwork and effort combined with politeness and humility and a touch of competitive spirit,” said Michael Shields of the HSBC. “Combined with Eddie Hyatt as Boat Captain (and dad) – they are a winning combination and serious competitors at ANY bass tournament!

Mason McCormick and Ryland Russell representing Byrd High School came in second with 37.27 lbs. with Kyle Jones and Levi Robinson of Parkway High took third. 2nd annual event was originally slated to be fished on the Red River but moved to Caddo Lake due to high water creating unsafe conditions on the river.
