At the regularly scheduled meeting for the month of May, Bernadean James Jones was appointed as a councilmember for the Village of Chatham. James replaces former councilmember Paula Ackley. agreed to introduce three Ordinances, including two that involved budget considerations.
In additional action, Councilmembers Toni Malone, Sue Proffer and Mike Wilson agreed to introduce three Ordinances and called for a Public Hearing for each to be set for June 13th. Laverne Mixon was absent.
Ordinances introduced were:
Ordinance 2023-01: Amended Budget for fiscal year 2022-2023
Ordinance 2023-02: Budget for fiscal year 2023-2024
Ordinance 2023-03: Franchise Agreement with Entergy
The session began with Alvin Palmer speaking about ongoing drainage problems in the Village. Chatham Mayor Gregory Harris responded by stating that he would get in touch with Jackson Parish Police Juror, Lewis Chatham, to see what could be done.
