An early morning traffic stop in Ruston has resulted in a Chatham man being arrested on drug and weapon charges
Per report, a vehicle traveling on East Georgia Avenue about 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning was stopped by a Ruston Police Sergeant for failure to use a turn signal. Upon investigation it was determined that the drivers license of Taverous Lathan, age 30, was suspended. Subsequent search of the vehicle discovered the presence of a suspected Schedule I drug (Ecstasy) and a 9mm pistol.
A Ruston Police sergeant stopped a vehicle on East Georgia Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for failure to use a turn signal. During the stop, police determined the driver’s license was suspended. During a search, suspected ecstasy, a Schedule I controlled substance and a 9 mm pistol were located.
Lathan was arrested and booked for possession of ecstasy, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, and no turn signal. Bail was set at $5,000.
