
A large contingent from Jackson Parish will be headed south this weekend as the JP8U and JP10U All-Stars will be competing in the Little League State Softball Tournaments being held July 7-10 at St. Julien Park in Broussard, LA.
JP8U qualified for the “Coach Pitch” state tournament by coming in second in District 5 at the tourney played at the Jackson Parish Recreation Department (JPRD) Sports Complex. JP10U earned the right by winning the district championship, also played in Jonesboro.
Jackson Parish 8U will be the first of the two local teams to play, opening the six team, double elimination, 8U “Coach Pitch” tourney on field 3 at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 7th against SPAR with the winner playing Vidalia , who drew a first round bye, on field 3 at 8:00 am on Saturday, July 8th.
The loser of the contest between JP8U and SPAR will at 4:00 pm on Saturday, against the loser of the contest between Sterlington, who drew a bye and the Moss Bluff vs. Lafayette winner.
JP8U team members are Caylee Mauthe, Kylee-Ayn Allen, Cadie Conn, Carrington Bond, Presley Carpenter, Macie Halbrook, Ryleigh Puffer, Charley Linton, Savannah Porter, Miriam Shuler, Ella Siddon, and Abigail Sullivan. The coaching staff consists of Kyle Allen (Head Coach) and assistants Halee Siddon, Melissa Porter and Wesley Sullivan.


Jackson Parish doesn’t play in the six team, modified double elimination, 10U state tourney until 10:00 am on Saturday, July 8th, on field six by virtue of receiving a first round bye. Their opponent will be the winner of the Moss Bluff vs Marksville contest being played Friday evening. A victory qualifies them for the finals of the winners bracket against whoever emerges from pod consisting of Vidalia, SPAR and Sterlington. If JP10U loses their first game then they will play the loser of SPAR and Sterlington, who Jackson Parish beat for the district title.
JP10U team members are Ella Simonelli, Raleigh Guilliams, Scarlett Parks, Amelia Staggs, Elliot Savage, Sky Watkins, Ryleigh McCormick, Ryan Kate Wyatt, Charleigh Newton, Hannah Aldy, Kynleigh Leach, and Kate Keiffer. Head coach of the team is Justin Wyatt, who is assisted by Corey Aldy and Tamala Keiffer.
