
In recognition of their dedicated effort to help area senior citizens the Jackson Parish Council on Aging (JPCOA) has been selected as the Business of the Month for July. Yumeaka Washington, President of the Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce who sponsors the monthly award, made the presentation to JPCOA Director, Linda Wyatt, on Wednesday, July 5th.
Jackson Parish Chamber of Commerce Director Wilda Smith, Sheila Williams, Carla Parker, Lowanda Traxler, Marquetta Stringfellow, Glen Kirkland, John Williams, Toni Buckley, Susan Brown, John Sims & Ola Cooper were on hand.
The primary function of Jackson Council on the Aging, Inc. is to improve the quality of life for the parish’s elderly and to provide services to the elderly as well as coordinate and monitor the services of other local agencies serving the aging people of the parish. Services include providing meals, nutritional education, information and referral services, legal assistance, homemaker services, operating senior centers, and transportation
