
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has lifted the Boil Advisory that was in effect for the Chatham Water System effective immediately. At 9:45 am on Friday, July 14th, Chatham Mayor Gregory Harris received correspondence from District Compliance Officer, Floyd Smith, of the LDH that samples submitted by the town on 7/13/23 showed no contamination and that the drinking water was safe to consume. A Boil Advisory on had been put in place on Wednesday, July 12, after a vehicle had ran over a fire hydrant, rupturing a main line and causing the possibility of contamination.
“I would like to commend our Public Works Department for their fast and efficient response and thank our residents for their patience while the situation was rectified,” said Harris.
