Lauren Menzina named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete

Louisiana Tech senior softball player, Lauren Menzina, has been named as a Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. It is the second year in a row that the daughter of Jonesboro businessman, Lonnie Mezina, and Jackson Parish native Jill Brown Mezina has been selected to the elite academic squad

The most recent award adds to Menzina’s impressive list of collegiate academic accomplishments having already been twice named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and two time Conference USA Academic Medalist.

On the field Menzina has enjoyed tremendous success as well for Louisiana Tech. After being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2021, over her three seasons “in the circle” the right handed hurler has compiled a 16-8 record, including going 5-0 with one save this past spring.

While at Cedar Creek High School in Ruston, Menzina was a five time All-District selection, two time All-State honoree and named the LHSAA Division IV Most Outstanding Player as a Sophomore after pitching her team to the state title. She was also  a four time All-District selection in basketball and LHSAA Composite All-Academic award winner.
