Quitman Junior High splits with Choudrant

Same story. Different chapter.

Several times during the 2023 junior high basketball season Quitman has met Choudrant in girls and boys competition. Each time Quitman has won the girls game and Choudrant the boys game. Nothing changed this past Thursday evening in the opening round of the Claiborne Christian tournament as the QJH girls won 27-13 and the boys fell 42-21.

In the girls game, Brenna Lamkin scored a season high 10 points to lead the junior girls in scoring. Allie Robertson chipped in with five and Kinsley Ponder added three. Klea Blalock, London Burks, Lily Jones and Emma Kate Toms all had two and Sophia Kliebert contributed a free throw in the victory.

Joseph Delaney scored seven points to lead the QJH boys followed by Hayden Seymore with 5 and Jack Thomas with four points. Kaleb Maxwell and Mathew Odom tallied two each and Eli Jackson had a point to round out the scoring.

Weston girls roll to opening round victory

Carly Jo Griffin was unstoppable as she finished with a career high 21 points in just three quarters of play to lead Weston to a 33-9 victory over tournament host Claiborne Christian. Carlynn Waters finished with five, Tessa Reeves contributed a three pointer and both Ada Claire Tidwell and Brooklyn Johnson had two points each to round out the Lady Wolves scoring.
