Jackson Parish Hospital receives national acclaim

First, the acclaim for the tremendous work done by the administration and staff of the Jackson Parish Hospital (JPH) was heard locally, then across the state of Louisiana. Now, the JPH has been recognized nationally.

In an attest to the quality care presented,  JPH recently received the highest of honors by being selected as a case study example of financial and operational sustainability before the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program (FLEX) Critical Access Hospitals in Florida.

The improvements at JPH over the last five plus years has been phenomenal. Not only has the local healthcare facility done very well financially and operationally, it has excelled clinically, culturally, and reputationally. This is evidenced by receiving multiple 5-Star ratings, as well as, being listed several times as a “Top Hospital” in Louisiana Life Magazine.

Since May of 2017, when John Morgan, MBA, BSN, RN took over as CEO, multiple improvements have been made. Included are: complete patient room remodel and renovations, negative pressure rooms and UV lighting in the ventilation system, the addition of a full time Internal Medicine Hospitalist, Dr. Ed Mariano, the addition of 24 hour on site Sheriff’s Deputies, the addition of a full time chef, the addition of 3D mammography, the addition of Telemedicine in the schools, a new elevator, and new digital signage.

“God has certainly had his hand upon us here at Jackson Parish Hospital,” said Morgan. “When I think about where we came from in 2017 to where we are now, it’s almost unbelievable.”

Believe it!

Refusing to take the credit, Morgan was quick to give the reason for the impressive strides made. “The providers and staff that we have assembled here are second to none.”

Morgan also acknowledged the support from the community that has been received.

“Words can’t express how appreciative I am for the support of the people in Jackson Parish of their hometown hospital,” said Morgan. “It has been both overwhelming and humbling to say the very least.”

Morgan states that while he is pleased with the growth there is still work to be done to achieve the vision and goal he has.

“Our trajectory for the future remains great as we still have our biggest ventures upcoming which will be the expansion of the MRI, and Endoscopy departments and and brand new Emergency Room,” said Morgan.  “My goal is to make Jackson Parish Hospital THE leader in healthcare.”
