James Bradford chosen for Grambling State University Alumni Spotlight

Jonesboro resident and civic leader, James Bradford, was recognized for his lifelong dedication to Grambling State University and community service in the September 2023  edition of GramNews.

The publication, which provides news and updates for GSI Alumni and friends, honored Bradford by choosing to do a feature on him in the section, Alumni Spotlight.

The Honorable James E. Bradford: Celebrating a Lifelong Dedication to Grambling State University and Community Service

Former Jonesboro Mayor, James E. Bradford, a proud alumnus of Grambling State University, has dedicated his life to serving his alma mater and community. With a successful 40-year career in governmental affairs and at Smurfit-Stone, Bradford continues to work as a lobbyist for WestRock.

Bradford has made significant contributions to the Grambling University National Alumni Association (GUNAA), serving as its president for over ten years. Under his leadership, GUNAA grew in impact, providing support and resources to current and future Grambling students.

His most notable achievement is organizing the annual Fred Hearn Jr. Golf Tournament and the Alumni and Friends event, which brings together alumni and raises funds for the institution. Through his efforts, these events have raised over $400,000, advancing the university’s mission and providing opportunities for students. This year’s Golf Tournament is scheduled for October 13th.

James E. Bradford’s unwavering commitment to his alma mater and community is commendable, and we say thank you.
