
Merlene Walker Robinson
July 16, 1932 – October 12, 2023
Merlene Walker Robinson was born in Jonesboro, LA on July 16, 1932. She passed away at the age of 91 in Gonzales, LA on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Merlene loved to bake, decorate cakes, sew, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would often make three chocolate pies so she could eat one, and have two to share.
Merlene is survived by her son, Johnny L. (Kathy) Robinson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Christen) Robinson, Jessie (Kaci) Robinson, Jodi (Justin) Devore & Amy & Shelly Robinson & Gina (Anthony) Robins; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Harold Shrell (brother in law), Dorothy (Charley) Colley, MH (Linna Jane) Walker, Jr., Carolyn (David) Dark, Charles (Elaine) Walker, Jim (Marilyn) Walker, Lenora Jane (Ray) Littlejohn and Floyd Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Robinson; parents, Marquis Howell (MH), Sr. and Shirley Wyatt Walker; son, Ronald Gary Robinson; siblings, Jesse Walker and Doris Walker Shrell; grandson, Kelly Gene Robinson; and great grandson, Justin Robinson.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 21 at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Parlor in Jonesboro, Louisiana from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Gayla Traina Cemetery in Jonesboro at 11:30 AM.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessie, Jonathan, Wesley, Lathan, and Jacob Robinson, Justin Devore and Jude Lanclos. Honorary pallbearers will be Jenna Robinson, Jase, Tucker & Adelyn Devore, Trey & Ella Lanclos.
Delma (Godwin) Nunn
September 5, 1934 – October 15, 2023
Delma (Godwin) Nunn passed away at Jackson Parish Hospital on Sunday, October 15, 2023. She was 89 years old. She was a homemaker that led a quite life. She loved her family, they were truly her life. Delma loved canning, and she was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed reading and singing and she was a babysitter for many children in the McDonald community over the years. Delma enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and board games. Her most difficult task throughout the years was keeping Othel Nunn in line; it was a journey!
Delma is survived by her son, Gary Nunn and wife, Cyndi; her daughters, Penny Nunn and Cindy Nunn; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty White, Gloria Dixon and husband George, and Kay Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Othel Nunn; her parents, Lee Godwin and Georgia Olla (Kirkham) Godwin; her brothers, Joe Godwin and Lee Godwin, Jr.; and her sister, Evelyn Adams.
Friends may visit with the family at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Louisiana from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Bro. Stuart Toms officiating.
Burial will follow in the Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Quitman, under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
