Entergy becomes Jackson Parish Library Park sponsor

The innovative thinking of Angela Walsworth and administrators Floyd Knox and Judy Robertson played a integral part in the creation of the newest amenity to the Jackson Parish Library. Equally important was the backing of the area business community, who provided the financial support.

All are greatly appreciated but none more than Entergy Corp. who deserves tremendous accolades for their incredible benevolent donation in the amount of $1,500.00.

Words can’t express how much we appreciate what Entergy has done for not only the Library but in reality all of Jackson Parish by providing these funds,” said JPL Director Knox. “We wanted to provide our patrons with the best and most interactive equipment possible and thanks to Entergy and other sponsors we were able to achieve this.”

Propagation Kits and Incubators Now Available

In partnership with LSU-AgCenter, the Jackson Parish Library is once again thinking “outside the box” by offering a couple of very cool “in the box” items. Interested in seeing how much fun it would be to grow indoor plants or hatch baby chicks? Adult library card holders in good standing can now take part in what has been dubbed the “Jackson Parish Library Homestead Project” by checking out heated propagation kits as well as incubators at the Jonesboro Branch. Patrons of the Chatham Branch may also request to participate. The two items are allowed to be checked out for one month and must be returned clean and in the original box.

Jackson Parish Seed Project

The JPL and the LSU-AgCenter didn’t stop at providing the ability to make things grow in special boxes. They are also combining forces to equip any patron with a library card in good standing with up to three packets of seeds. This is on a first come, first serve basis during regular business hours at the Jonesboro Branch. Hopefully Chatham resident will have the same opportunity soon at the location
