Make plans to be at the intersection of Jimmie Davis Blvd. and Polk Street in downtown Jonesboro at 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday, December 20 where the “fleur de lis” fountain will be dedicated in memory of two of Jonesboro and Jackson Parish’s most beloved residents, Tony and Marlene Rome.
On hand for the gala event, along with Jackson Parish government and civic leaders, will be members of the Rome family, including family matriarch, Anthony Nicholas “Tag” Rome. Now a prominent businessman in Shreveport/Bossier and owner of several State Farm Insurance Agencies, Tag remembered his “home town” by donating funds to the “Beautification of Jonesboro” project that provided the funding for the purchase of the fountain and corresponding plaque that is situated in the median of the intersection just up from where Anthony’s Men’s Store, was located that was owned and operated by Tony and Marlene and was a staple of the Jonesboro business district for decades.
After the dedication, a reception with refreshments will be held at the Jackson Parish Museum, located at 515 S Cooper Ave in Jonesboro. The public is invited to attend the dedication, and also the reception and enjoy the food that has been provided
