Police Jury recognizes John McCarty for his years of service

The Jackson Parish Police Jury (JPPJ) held their regularly scheduled monthly meeting on December 19th. It was far from the normal business like routine of taking care of parish affairs though.

This session was special as fellow jurors and those in attendance at the Charles H. Garrett Community Center said goodbye to long time, District 4 Police Juror, John McCarty, who was defeated in the November run off election by Sheketia Combs.

“Our parish was fortunate to have “Mr. John” as a Police Juror for as long as he was,” said JPPJ President Todd Culpepper. “His contribution is much appreciated and he will be missed.”

McCarty served on the Jackson Parish Police Jury from 1984 – 1997 and from 2016 to present. He served as the President for 2019 where he also served as Chairman of the Finance Committee. He also served as Chairman of the Parish Cleanup Committee since 2020. During his nearly two decades of service, McCarty provided  valuable experience in setting and achieving goals for the community.
