The Ruston Area Music Teachers Association’s annual Solo Festival was held on February 3rd at the Louisiana Tech School of Music with multiple students qualifying for the Honors Recital including Jackson Parish resident Emma Kate Toms.  

The daughter of Emily (Kirkham) and Jarrod Toms, who is a junior high student at Quitman High School, not only qualified but won first place in the 7th-8th grade Voice B division.

Morning performances were judged privately. Students scoring 98-100 would then go on to perform at the afternoon honors recital. Overall Winners were selected in each grade division based on their recital performance.
