November 30, 1930 – February 11, 2024
Dorothy Masters, age 93 of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Forest Haven Nursing Home. She was born to James Ruel Boddie, Sr. and Virgie Mae (Davis) Boddie on November 30, 1930 in Jackson Parish.
Dorothy married Oliver Simonton “Bo” Masters in Jonesboro on December 21, 1946. Bro. Daniel Blackburn conducted their ceremony.
Dorothy is survived by her children, James Oliver “Sonny” Masters (Betsy), Patsy Carole (Masters) Flores (Ed), and John Durwood Masters (Pam); grandchildren, Gayla Ann (Hall) Smith (James Bradford), Terry Eugene “Bubba” Hall, Melinda Kay Hall, Michael Chad Hall (Wendy), Angela Suzette “Angel” Hall, Mickey Joseph Martin (Michelle), Mark Flores, Christopher Shawn Masters, Haley Elizabeth (Masters) Staples (Hank), and Benjamin John “Benji” Masters (Ashley); 10 great grandchildren, and 24 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, siblings, Nola Ruth Boddie, Ida Laverne (Boddie) Murphy, and James Ruel Boddie, Jr; daughter, Betty Ann (Masters) Hall and her husband Gene Hall; granddaughter, Shannon Nicole Masters; great-granddaughter, Amber Nicole Hall; great-great granddaughter, Rosemary Sage Wheat.
Friends can visit with the family on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in Jonesboro from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Bro. Randy Dark will officiate the funeral service, which will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories on Hwy. 4 West of Jonesboro.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bubba Hall, Chad Hall, Mickey Martin, Shawn Masters, Benji Masters and Hank Staples.
