Weston boys drop two in final tune-ups before playoffs

Tait Henderson scored a game high 14 points against D’Arbonne Woods

The hope was that by maybe getting a victory or two in the final week of the regular season, Weston would possibly climb a little higher in the Division V rankings. It hasn’t worked out that way.

Fortunately the 67-64 overtime loss to Class 3A D’Arbonne Woods at home on Monday and falling  on the road 67-44 to Pitkin, ranked #15 in Division V, hasn’t hurt the Wolves ranking. With a record o 15-16 on the year, Weston is at #23 in Division V, seemingly assured of making the 28 team postseason field.  One final regular season game is still ahead, a Thursday contest on the road against #11 Simsboro.

D’Arbonne Woods 67 Weston 64 (OT) – A 26-15 Weston lead at the half failed to hold up as D’Arbonne Woods stormed back with 39 second half points and outscored the Wolves 12-9 in overtime. Three players reached double digits in scoring for Weston led by 14 from Tait Henderson and 11 each from Bryce Zehr and Nathan Wages, his second highest scoring total of the season. Lajavion Harris finished with five, Brody Tidwell had three, Daniel Watlington two and Juan Gonzalez hit a free throw to round out the scoring. Tommy Walker only took two shots, missing both, but had a huge defensive impact through 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals, all team game bests.
