The Chatham Town Council held its regular monthly meeting on February 13, 2024, with the following present: Mayor Greg Harris, Councilmembers Toni Malone, Mike Wilson, Laverne Mixon, Sue Proffer and Bernadean James.

Once the meeting was called to order by Mayor Harris the minutes of the January meeting and payment of bills due was approved. Financial statements were also accepted. Councilmembers then adopted Ordinance 2024-01 amending Ordinance 12-163 which allows for Mayor Harris to set fines for failure to keep property clean and presentable. 

Extending the Chatham Water System to residents on Concord Road was next to be discussed with agreement to have Mayor Harris reaching out to the town’s engineer and Representative, Jack McFarland, regarding capital outlay for the project.

In closing, Mayor Harris reminded those in attendance of the scheduled public meeting to be held on February 20, 2024, at 6:00PM in the council room at Village Hall located at 1709 Oak Street in Chatham.
