Local dignitaries and distinguished guests gathered at 244 Bond Street on Monday afternoon to dedicate the land that was donated by Mercy Medical CEO Kim Brunson to Habitat for Humanity for future home sites in Jackson Parish.
Highlighting the ceremony that featured Habitat for Humanity CEO Kathy Gardner and WestRock General Manager, as well as, Habitat for Humanity Board Member Eric Taylor giving speeches, was the traditional ribbon cutting that followed.
The audience also had the opportunity to hear from Jonesboro Mayor J. “Spike” Harris, Jackson Parish Police Jury President Todd Culpepper, and the one who made all the future plans possible through her benevolence, Mercy Medical CEO, Kim Brunson. Master of Ceremonies was James Bradford.
Four sites have been laid out on Bond Street where homeowners will be able to take advantage of buying a home for the cost of building materials and not having to pay interest on the mortgage.
This is made possible by the tremendously generous program sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and WestRock that allows those with low income enjoy the excitement of helping build their own home and then becoming homeowners.
Applications are now being accepted. Those interested are encouraged to go the website hfhnl.org or call 318-323-8003. Deadline for applying is March 31, 2024.
