The landscape of Hodge took on another look this past week when the lot between the new Dollar General store and Hodge Bank was cleared of the stately pine trees that have adorned the area for decades.
The reason was so that the lot could be prepared for the building of the Jackson Parish Farm Bureau office that will be situated there. On Thursday, Hodge Mayor Gerald Palmer, Hodge Bank President Rex Johnson, Farm Bureau officers, A&M Builders officials and local dignitaries took part in the traditional “ground breaking” ceremony of “turning the dirt”.
The addition continues the business growth that Hodge has experienced over the past year that includes the construction and opening of a new Dollar General store, and the purchase and ongoing renovation project of the old Hodge Shopping Center by Mercy Medical Health Center.
Outstanding. The town of Hodge should continue to grow. With that brings jobs, revenue and a sense of pride living in the area. Hats off to the Mayor and all those responsible. Mercy Medical will be a God send, once it’s completed. Residents will benefit greatly by having a medical facility so close and the addition of the Dollar General alleviates many “un-necessary” trips for much needed items.
