The Deacon’s of Defense Park in Jonesboro that was dedicated on July 6, 2023, has received an upgrade with more improvements on the way. Surrounding the 11th historical marker on the Louisiana Civil Rights Trail that commemorates local Deacon’s of Defense members is a new stone paved walkway  and flower bed.

Next on the project list is the planting of flowers and placement of benches around the marker with a small playground that has been donated to be constructed soon.
