A Town Hall Meeting of local concerned citizens, community leaders and Pastors, who are members of the Unity Team, was held on Thursday, May 9th, at City Hall in Jonesboro.
The session was called by Jonesboro Mayor J. “Spike” Harris to provide information in regard to recommended adjustments to the current water rate structure in Jonesboro and to propose the creation of an advisory board to the City Council, specifically to address this issue.
“The State has recommended adjustments to our current water rate structure, which is presently too low to meet the standards required for compliance with state regulations and to remain eligible for essential grant opportunities. These adjustments are crucial for sustainable management and improvement of our water infrastructure,” stated Harris.
“As result, I am proposing the creation of an advisory board to the City Council, specifically to address this issue. This board will play a pivotal role in advising the council on the best practices and strategies to implement the necessary changes in a manner that is both effective and considerate of our community’s needs.”
