Jackson Parish scored their first two runs of the Little League 12U Softball state tournament in the top of the third inning but by then Avoyelles Parish had taken a big lead on their way to a 12-2 victory over the locals on Friday. The loss put Jackson Parish in the elimination side of the bracket where they were scheduled to play Moss Bluff Saturday evening.
Down 9-0, Jackson Parish got on the board when Gracie Gray ripped a triple to center field that scored Camryn Ashley who had reached on an error. Isabella Blewer then followed with a single to plate Gray. Those were the only two hits allowed by Avoyelles pitching over the four inning contest that was called early due to the “ten run” rule. Kamyrn James, who stole a base, and Charleigh Newton also got on once each by coaxing walks.
