All summer long the storyline has been basically the same. Led by a Weston High School girls basketball player, LA Elite, the summer travel ball team made up of some of the top high school girl players in North Louisiana, takes honors in a prestigious tournament.
Only this time it wasn’t the WHS star, Briley Peterson, who is usually in the limelight, leading the way. This time it was Carly Jo (CJ) Griffin, the budding star that burst on the scene as an 8th grader for Weston this past school year, that helped LA Elite to a second place finish in the Mississippi Summer Showcase played in Jackson, MS.
The nine-member squad went 3-1 in the tourney, with Griffin playing a huge role by scoring 25 points, showing tremendous ball handling skills and playing superb defense.
