Heat Index Soars! Urgent Heat Advisory for Jackson Parish Issued

On Tuesday, July 30th the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Shreveport, LA issued an Urgent Heat Advisory for Jackson Parish that is expected to remain in place at least until Friday. 

Very hot, humid, and dry conditions will remain in place through Friday, as an upper level ridge of high pressure builds into the region. As a result, heat indices will climb to near or in excess of 105 degrees. The approach of a weak surface front this weekend may focus the potential for isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms over the region. – NWS,  Shreveport, LA.

The expected hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat related illnesses and residents are urged to take precautions and preparedness actions such as:
Drink plenty of fluids
Stay in air-conditioned rooms
Stay out of the sun
Check on relatives and neighbors.
