Local Junior High Basketball Teams Play at Home on Tuesday

Fans of the Quitman and Weston Junior High girls and boys basketball teams are in for a treat as both will play host to games this coming Tuesday, September 17th. The schedule shows QJH welcoming Castor Junior High and Calvin Junior High invading Weston. The girls game in both begin at 5:00 pm with the boys contest immediately  following at Weston and being played after a special state championship ring presentation ceremony at Quitman.

Claiborne Christian Tournament Results

Unlike the previous four tournaments that the two local junior high schools have played in this season, that were double elimination styled with a tourney victor crowned, the Claiborne Christian Tourney was played in a round robin format, where each of the four schools participating played two games each.

That still didn’t stop the Quitman Junior High boys from continuing their winning ways. By beating both Choudrant and host Claiborne Christian of their games, the youthful Wolverines stayed perfect in tournament competition at 14-0 and ran their season record to a sparkling 17-1 overall. The two teams from Weston both went 1-1 with the girls record now standing at 6-7 and the boys 7-6. The Quitman girls lost both of their contests to fall to 5-7 on the year.
