Jackson Parish School Board Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2024

The Jackson Parish School Board met in a regular scheduled meeting at 11:00 a.m. on
November 4, 2024 at Jackson Parish School Board, 315 Pershing Highway, Jonesboro,
La. The following were present for roll call: Rick Barlow, Calvin Waggoner, Paulette Belton, Gerry Mims, Dennis Clary, Wade McBride, Mary Saulters
Absent: None
Rick Barlow gave the Invocation.
Paulette Belton led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The meeting was called to order by Dennis Clary.
A motion was made by Mary Saulters, seconded by Rick Barlow and carried to approve the minutes from the Regular Scheduled meeting held on October 7, 2024.
The Board recognized Bonnie Buckelew who gave a report on School Safety and Crisis Management.
A motion was made by Mary Saulters, seconded by Calvin Waggoner and carried to
approve the Jackson Parish School System Pupil Progression Plan for 2024-2025
school year.
Gerry Mims reported to the Board on the meeting of the Executive Finance Committee held prior to the Board meeting.
A motion was made by Rick Barlow, seconded by Paulette Belton and carried to
approve for payment the following bills: General Fund, Federal Program, School Food
Service, Sales Tax, Special Education, District Maintenance bills.
A motion was made by Gerry Mims, seconded by Mary Saulters and carried approving
to pay Employer’s Share of Office of Group Benefits insurance premiums from General Fund for the December 2024 sales tax distribution.
A motion was made by Wade McBride, seconded by Paulette Belton and carried
approving payment of $139,365.40 to Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office for a partial (half) salary of five (5) resource officers at Jonesboro-Hodge High School, Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School, Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School, Quitman High School, and Weston High School for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, to be paid from General Fund.
A motion was made by Mary Saulters, seconded by Rick Barlow and carried granting
Superintendent Claxton permission to enter into a five (5) year contract with Uniti for
WAN and Internet Service, funded with Erate at 90% discount and 10% to be paid from the General Fund.
Kristi Bass, Business Manager presented the Financial Report.
Mary Saulters reported to the Board on the meeting of the Building and Grounds
Committee held prior to the Board meeting.
A motion was made by Gerry Mims, seconded by Wade McBride and carried approving payment of $75,743.00 to Brazos Industries to recoat the existing foam roof on the Jonesboro Hodge Boys Gym, to be paid from Jonesboro District funds (Legislative Allocations). This cost is pro-rated due to the warranty on the existing roof and will include all material, labor and insurance to complete the work.
Paulette Belton reported to the Board on the meeting of the Policy Committee held prior to the Board meeting.
A motion was made by Mary Saulters, seconded by Rick Barlow and carried to approve revising policy:

A motion was made by Wade McBride, seconded by Rick Barlow and carried to adjourn at 11:30 a.m..
