The trio of Briley Peterson, Carly Jo Griffin and Anslee Aldy combined for a 45 points per game average that helped Weston win two of three games played last week and improve their season record to 4-2 on the year. The Lady Wolves opened the week by throttling Family Community Christian 66-32 on Tuesday setting up a 59-56 overtime victory over Choudrant on Thursday. It was almost a perfect 3 for 3 week but a last chance three pointer that would have tied the game didn’t fall in the 66-63 loss to Elizabeth on Friday.
Weston 66 FCCS 32 (Tuesday) Briley Peterson poured in 20 points and Weston controlled the glass to the tune of 47 rebounds to win their first home game of the year. Carly Jo Griffin added 13 and pulled down 9 boards while Anslee Aldy chipped in with 12 points. Carlynn Waters chipped in with 7 points and five rebounds while Nadia Siadek and Jakayla Fourd finished with five points each. Rachel Bandy, who had 8 rebounds and Olivia Otwell also scored two each.
Weston 59 Choudrant 56 (Thursday) A superb 6 of 8 free throw shooting performance in overtime lifted the Lady Wolves to the hard fought victory. Three free throws by Anslee Aldy, who finished with 15 along with Carly Jo Griffin to tie for the scoring lead, hit three free throws and Rachel Bandy added the only basket of the 5th period for Weston to tie the game at 56 each setting up Nadia Siadek hitting a pair of free throws to put Weston up by two and Rachel Bandy added another charity shot to secure the three point victory. Briley Peterson scored 11, Siadek and Bandy finished with six each and Jakayla Fourd chipped in with three. Carlynn Waters tallied two and Gracie Gray added a free throw.
Elizabeth 66 Weston 63 (Friday) Carly Jo Griffin poured a season high 21 points, Briley Peterson added 16 and Anslee Aldy scored 12 but a three point shot at the end that would have tied the game bounced away to put an end to the Lady Wolves four game winning streak. Nadia Siadek also had a good game with six points and six rebounds while Carlynn Waters scored four and both Rachel Bandy and Jakalya Fourd tallied two apiece.
