
Jonesboro-Hodge High School girls head basketball coach Shan Jackson said at the beginning of the year that her goal was to bring the Lady Tigers back to the prominence they were known for.
She is getting there.
With Morgan McGee hitting three 3-pointers in the first half to help lift JHHS to a 19-9 halftime advantage they would never relinquish, the Lady Tigers won their second in the last three games on Tuesday by beating Choudrant 44-35 on letter jacket night to up their record to 4-5 on the year. Choudrant fell to 1-6 on the season.
Nine players scored points on the night with McGee leading the balanced scoring attack with 10 points. Nesha Johnson was next with 8, followed by Sanaa Tatum with 7 points. Tyya Davis and LeRonda McGuire finished with 5 points each and Jalenya Jackson finished with four. Ciara Gray added two points and both Angel Moss and LaKayla McGuire chipped in with a free throw.
JHHS boys fall short
Jonesboro-Hodge registered their second highest scoring total of the year on the heels of scoring their season best this past Friday but fell to Choudrant by a 64-59 margin. The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-5 on the season while Choudrant won their first of the season against five losses. Four players reached double figures in scoring for JHHS with Za’mauryian Palmer and Samuel Combs tying for scoring honors with 13 points apiece. D.J. Palmer and Kamerin Bradley added 10 points each. Dylan Hayes and Ariy’un Bradford had six each.
