
Jonesboro-Hodge saw one streak continue and another go by the wayside on Thursday in the final tune-up before district play begins. The Lady Tigers beat Winnfield for their second straight victory and third out of the last four to improve to 8-11 on the year. Winnfield dropped to 3-13 on the year. The results wasn’t as favorable for the JH boys as they dropped their first game in 2025 to fall to 5-12 overall while Winnfield, coached by former JHHS boys basketball coach, Allen Tew, improved to 7-4 on the year.
JHHS 50 Winnfield 38 (girls): Sanaa Tatum scored 10 of her team high 14 points and Morgan McGee hit a pair of three pointers in the first half to help lift the Lady Tigers to a 32-21 lead at the break. McGee and Tyya Davis would both finish with 12 points each with Jaylena Jackson chipping in with five. Angel Moss scored four and Neesha Johnson added three to round out the balanced attack.

Winnfield 72 JHHS 37 (boys): After trailing by just 17-14 after the first quarter getting outscored 20-5 in the second frame was too much to overcome as Winnfield saddled with their first loss of 2025. Zamauryian Palmer led JHHS in scoring with 11 points that included a pair of three pointers. Ariy’un Bradford chipped in with 8 points, while both Samuel Combs and D. J. Palmer scored six. Dylan Hayes finished with five and Kamerin Bradley hit a free throw for the Tigers.
