Weston High Gives Baseball Head Coach Joey Kemp 100th Career Win

Weston High School head coach Joey Kemp got his 100th career victory in a big way as the Wolves set a new scoring standard for the 2025 season with a 20-0 victory over Class 5A Southwood. The Wolves followed that up with a 13-0 win over Bell City in the first game of the Stanley tournament before falling 7-3 to the top ranked team in Division IV among “non-select” schools, Covenant Christian out of Houma, LA. 

Weston 20 Southwood 0 (Wednesday) – The Wolves left no doubt that they would award their head coach with his 100th victory by sending 21 batters to the plate and scoring 16 runs in the first inning of the two inning contest. Ty Henderson got two of the seven hits accrued by Weston, including a double while also scoring twice and driving in three. Jacob Gill also scored twice and knocked in four while Liam Weaver, hit a double, scored twice and had an RBI. Cole Tolar scored twice and drove in two while Drew Browning and Colton Blundell scored two runs each and hit an RBI. Sawyer Watkins scored twice, and Eli Essery, Easton Borders, Dawson Griffin and Beaux Oliver scored and got an RBI as did Kyptin Caskey and Hunter Donaldson as every player on the team got an at bat. Tolar got the win after two no hit innings.

Weston 13 Bell City 0: For the second straight game, the Wolves held a winless team to no runs in winning their fourth straight. Bryce Zehr went 3/3 with a double, scored twice and drove in two while also stealing a base to lead the offensive attack that garnered 8 hits drew and coaxed 9 free passes. Colton Blundell, Liam Weaver and Cole Tolar drove in a run and scored twice as did Jacob Gill who also had 2 RBI. Ty Henderson drove in a pair and scored a run. Jase Borders and Drew Browning scored a run and had an RBI as well while Sawyer Watkins knocked in a run. Beaux Oliver picked up his first ever varsity win.

Covenant Christian 7 Weston 3 – After beating two winless teams, the Wolves lost to an undefeated one after Covenant Christian rallied from a 1-0 deficit to score three in the third and fourth innings. Colton Blundell hit a double and a home run for the Wolves accounting for two RBI and a run scored while Drew Browning knocked in a run and both  Bryce Zehr and Liam Weaver, who also hit a double, scored a run each.
