Special Guests recognized at WHS Softball regular season home final

THANK YOU!
Weston High School Softball paid tribute to program supporters this past Friday

Weston High School concluded its 2025 LHSAA softball regular season this past Friday by hosting Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport. The Lady Wolves lost the contest 11-8 to end the season with a 6-14 overall record and will now prepare to compete in the upcoming LHSAA Class B playoffs as a #14 seed in the 20-team bracket.

While the contest really didn’t have any effect in their postseason plans the contest carried great importance to WHS head coach Cecilia Chambliss and the Lady Wolves as it gave them the opportunity to express their gratitude to the supporters of the program who were key contributors in the construction of the new, on-campus WHS Softball field.

“It was truly a special day for us to have all the special guests in attendance who were so instrumental in the construction of the field,” reflected Chambliss. “When we were told we were getting a new field, I never dreamed it would be this nice!”

Among those who were honored for their contributions in getting the WHS Softball Field built was LA District 13 State Representative, Jack McFarland, who opened the festive occasion by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Additional supporters who received recognition were Henry Shuler of Heard Construction, Jackson Parish School Superintendent David Claxton, former WHS coach and current JPSD Supervisor David Brown, WHS Principal David Huckaby, and the Jackson Parish School Board.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen,’ concluded Chambliss. “We will enjoy this field for many, many years to come.”
