
According to Jackson Parish Watershed Commission President, Gary Joynor, Caney Lake and Chatham Lake is on schedule to receive Florida Bass fingerlings this week. Per the report, Caney Lake is expected to receive 50,00 fingerlings while Chatham Lake will have 3,100 Florida Bred fingerlings added to the fishery.
Watershed Commission holds monthly meeting
The Jackson Parish Watershed Commission held their regularly schedule monthly meeting on Thursday, April 12th in the Sunshine Room of the Jackson Parish Administration Building in Jonesboro.
The session began with Mr. Phil Milstead being welcomed as the newest member to the Board with a discussion of old business regarding the striping of the Ebenezer Launch Parking lot and Spillway project. It was also agree to purchase and install boat bumpers for the Ebenezer boat pier. Discussion about duck blinds and to modify building permit applications to include commercial language followed.
Building permits were then granted to Shane Banks and Frank Cannon and it was agreed to allow the Caney Lake Community Foundation to use the Caney Lake Damfor the 2025 Freedom Fireworks Celebration.
