
Jonesboro-Hodge High School finished in 2nd place in boys competition and the girls team placed 3rd at the District 1-1A track meet held on Tuesday, April 22, in Sibley, LA on the campus of Lakeside High School.
Led by District 1-1A Meet MVP, Christian McGuire, who won gold medals in the 100, 200 and 400 meters as well as helping the Tigers take first place in the 4×400 meter relay, JHHS compiled a total of 127 points, just six points shy of District 1-1A champion Haynesville.
Ciara Gray, who was voted MVP in the girls division and Zu’Wy’Neshya Johnson also won gold in four events each for Jonesboro-Hodge, to help the Lady Tigers score 117 points, which was good for third place behind Cedar Creek (141) and Haynesville (129) in what turned out to be basically a three team meet.
Gray won gold medals in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles along with winning the long jump and triple jump, while Johnson won the 100 and 200 meters and ran a leg in the winning 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays.
LaKayla McGuire and Jakhorielle Lard were “double gold” winners via legs in the winning 4×100 and 4×200 relays, while Ariy’un Bradford, Gregory Howard, and Ka’Darrion Thompson each ran a leg on the winning 4×400 relay team. Rickiya Bryant secured a gold medal for her leg in the winning 4×200-meter relay race and LonTre’vious Burns won first place in the high jump.
